Hong Hua
breaks up blood stasis, invigorates blood, moistens the bowels
- lung, intestinal abscesses: add clear heat herbs
- constipation due to dryness
overdose: headache, dizziness, palpitations, potential death
often used with hong hua
tao ren
gyno disorders: pms, post partum pain, infertility due to stasis
- promotes urination-; reduces edema
- modern use for glomerulo nephritis
- clears heat and relieves toxicity- boils, carbuncles, skin rashes (internal or external)
yi mu cao
regulates menses: amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea or postpartum abdominal pain due to blood stasis
- promotes urination and reduces edema *modern use for ascites due to liver cirrhosis
- dispels stasis; reduces swelling- carbuncles, abscess, trauma; topical or internal use
ze lan
this herb refers to two different botanicals which have four functions: invigorates blood, expels blood stasis; clears damp heat in lower jiao; tonifies liver and kidney; strengthens sinews and bones; induces downward movement of blood
Niu Xi - Huai niu xi -chuan niu xi diarrhea due to Spleen deficiency weak Kidney qi with excessive menstruation, spermatorrhea
(Chuan Niu Xi) Invigorates blood; expels blood stasis
dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, lochioschesis – due to blood stasis
lower back and knee pain due to blood stasis
Tonifies Liver and Kidney; strengthens sinews and bones
pain, soreness, and weakness of low back, knees
(Chuan Niu Xi) Clears damp-heat in low jiao
damp-heat knee pain or low back pain;
lin syndrome or edema; vaginal discharge
(Huai Niu Xi) Induces downward movement of blood
