klinefelter syndrome
male genetic condition characterize by a rounded body type, lack of facial hair, breast enlargement, smaller than normal testicles. xxy
turner syndrome
characterized by short stature, slow or no sexual development at puberty, heart abnormalities, lack of ovarian function. lack or damage to one of the x chormosomes
intersex
born with sexual anatomy that is neither completely male/female but a combination
trangender
individuals whose gender identity varies from their biological sex
gender identity disorder
strong persistent cross gender identification. the desire/insistence that one is of the other sex combined with persistent discomfort about one’s biological sex or culturally prescribed gender role
gender dysphoria
refers to stress or discomfort stemming from the self knowledge that one’s biological sex doesn’t conform to his or her personal gender identity
transsexual
transgender person who has transitoned or is transitioning from his biological sex to his identified gender through actions, dress, hormone therapy or surgery
social alienation
passive form of aggression that includes malicious gossip, spreading rumors, shunning
androgynous
one who embodies both maculine and femenine traits or chracteristics
2 dimensional model of gender
an approach to defining gender suggesting that gender isn’t an either or propostion but that people may manifest elements of both genders simultaneously
