who is the CIO
executive in charge of the IS function

6 Basic components of CBIS

- Software : program / collection of that enables hardware to process data
- a Database : collection of related files/tables containing data
- a Network : connecting system (wire/less) that enables multiple computers to share resources
- Procedures : instructions for combining these components to process info and generate desired output
- People
Information tech platform / services / infrastructure
platform - formed by all IT components (hard/software, networks, databases)
services - IT personnel using these components to develop IS, oversee security and risk and manage data
infrastructure - IT components + IT services
