The Royal Navy. Overseas HOs. IALA. Commercial organisations. Vessels and/or shipping companies. Private individulas.

When should Nav Warnings be dealt with?
Immediately on receipt (monitored prior to sailing as well).

The same info as per Nav Warnings but for the Sub-Area.
What is a coastal warning?
Information necessary for safe navigation.
Seaward of the fairway buoy/pilot station.
Entire NAVTEX area or
What is a local warning?
Not normally required by ocean going vessels.
Usually refer to inshore waters, within and between harbour authority limits.
Originated by coastguard, port or pilotage authorities.
What language are broadcasts in?
NAVAREA, Sub-Area and Coastal Warnings are broadcast in English only on the International NAVTEX and International SafteyNET services.
What is NAVTEX?
System for the broadcast and automatic reception of MSI by means of narrow-band direct-printing telegraphy.
Broadcast on 518 kHz in English.
Any national service will broadcast on 490 kHz on the relevant language.

What is the International SafetyNET Service?
An automatic direct-printing satellite-based service for the promulgation of MSI.
Part of Sat-C EGC system providing automated means or receiving MSI.

How should NWs be noted on charts?
Noted in pencil.
Expunged when cancelled or superseded by NM.
Charts quoted are most convenient (others may be affected).
ECDIS would require a layer set or manual correction.
NW number should be noted within correction.
