Ch. 9 Vocab Flashcards
Change in which the composition of the substance changes.
Chemical change
Characteristics that cannot be observed without altering the sample.
Chemical property
The process of changing from a gas to a liquid
Condensation
The process by which a gas changes into a solid.
Deposition
States that matter is neither created or destroyed; and as a result the mass of the before a physical or chemical change is equal to the mass present after the change.
Law of Conservation of Matter
Change in which the form or appearance of matter changes, but not it’s composition.
Physical change
Characteristics that can be observed using the five senses, without changing or trying to change the composition of a substance.
Physical property
The process by which a solid turns directly into a gas.
Sublimation
The process by which a liquid changes into a gas.
