Cells Flashcards
Protective outer covering of all cells that regulates the interaction between the cell and environment
Cell membrane
States that organisms are made up of 1 or more cells, the cell is the basic unit of life, and all cells come from other cells
Cell theory
Rigid structure that encloses supports and protects the cell of plants algae fungi in most bacteria.
Cell wall
Green, chlorophyll containing, plant cell organelle that uses light energy to create sugar from carbon dioxide and water
Chloroplast
Constantly Moving gel like mixture inside the cell membrane that contains hereditary material and is the location of most of those cells life processes
Cytoplasm
Cytoplasmic organelle that moves materials in a cell and is made up of complex series of folded membranes can be rough (with attached ribosomes) are smooth (without ribosomes.)
Endoplasmic Retticulum
Organelles that package cellular materials and transport them within the cell or without the cell.
Golgi body
Living cell in which a virus can actively multiply or in which a virus can hide until Aktivated by environmental stimuli
Host cell
Cell organelle that breaks down food and release energy
Mitochondria
Organelle that controls all the activities of a cell in contains hereditary material made of proteins and DNA.
Nucleus
Structures such as the heart made of the different types of tissues that work together.
Organ
Structure and cytoplasm of a eukaryotic cell that can act as a storage site process energy move materials or manufacture substances.
Organelle
Small cytoplasmic on which cells make their own protein
Ribosomes
A group of similar cells that work together to do one thing
Tissue
A strand of hereditary material surrounded by a protein coding
Virus
