demography
the study of statistics such as births, deaths, income, or the incidence of disease, which illustrate the changing structure of human populations.
age structure
The composition of a population in terms of the proportions of individuals of different ages.
survivorship
the state or condition of being a survivor; survival.
fertility rate
The fertility rate at a given age is the number of children born alive to women of that age during the year as a proportion of the average annual population of women of the same age.
migration
seasonal movement of animals from one region to another.
life expectancy
the average period that a person may expect to live.
demographic transition
Demographic transition is a model used to represent the movement of high birth and death rates to low birth and death rates as a country develops from a pre-industrial to an industrialized economic system.
infrastructure
the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (e.g. buildings, roads, power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.
arable land
Arable land is any land capable of being ploughed and used to grow crops.
urbanization
the process of making an area more urban.
least developed countries
Least developed countries (LDCs) are low-income countries confronting severe structural impediments to sustainable development.
