1 Replace the members - thru generations in ur fam, replace government officials
2 Socialize Members - thru ur fam, frens, skool, u need to fit in
3 Distribute REsources - economy, need money to maintain organism
4 Preserve Order - law order
5 Main Members Sense of Purpose - thru fam, frens, education, religous

Elements of Social Structure
1 Social Status - positions in the structure that I am – ex. daughter, friend, teacher
2 Ascribed Status - postions i was assigned to at birf, it was SCRIBED TO ME – ex age, race
3 Master Status - postions that i associate with most, but others may not – ex passing as trans
4 Acheived Status - postion i want to b in – ex. career, parent, spouse

the group i associate with and bleong toout

ppl outside my group, and may feel rivaliry or hostility towards them
ex diff sports team fans
