A
- Introduce yourself
- Explain what your goals are for the session
- Demonstrate if needed
- Set up environment
- Make sure to leave patient with a way to communicate

How to position Supine?
A
- Center on table
- Straight spine
- Good spinal alignment
- Arms by the sides or on the chest/abdomen with pillows under upper arms

A
- Center on table
- good spinal alignment
- Pillow under head and small roll under waist
- Underside leg straight and top leg flexed
- Pillow between legs
- Underside arm protracted, top arm rest on pillow

- Straight spine
- Good spinal alignment
- Face down if possible, turn on side otherwise
- Arms by the sides or abduction

Special considerations for Total Hip Arthroplasty?
A
- Posterolateral approach
- Avoid hip flexion beyond 60 to 90 degrees
- Avoid hip adduction past 0 degrees
- Avoid hip internal rotation past 0 degrees

- Facilitate weight-bearing
- Increase arousal and awareness
- Improve pulmonary ventilation
- Improve orthostatic hypotension
- Contraindications: Bilateral LE weight-bearing limitations, unstable spinal cord injuries
