Q

What is the tropopause?

A

It is a level, not a layer which acts like a lid to confine most of the water vapor and associated weather to the troposphere.

Q

What is the stratosphere?

A

It is a layer of the atmosphere. It has a similar composition to the troposphere except less water vapor.
it extends to approximately 160,000 ft.

Q

What are the two layers of the atmosphere above the stratosphere?

Q

Does the height of the Troposphere change?

A

Yes, the height of the troposphere and tropopause are lower near the poles, and in winter. Higher near the equator and in the summer.

Q

If you captured a cubic foot of the atmosphere, what gases would you find and at what proportions?

A

Nitrogen (78%) ; Oxygen (21%) ; Argon, carbon dioxide, and other gasses makeup (1%)
Water vapor would range from 0-4%
