Q

Metaphysis

A

In between diaphysis and epiphysis

16
Q

Intramemebranous ossification

A

Primary and secondary ossification centers grow together in a connective tissue

17
Q

Endochondral ossification

A

Cartilage model is turned to bone

18
Q

Interstitial growth

A

Length growth, epiphysis plate, cartilage end in metaphysis

19
Q

Appositional growth

A

Width growth

20
Q

Parathyroid Hormone

A

Raises low levels of calcium

21
Q

Calcitonin

A

Lowers high levels of calcium

22
Q

Open bone fracture

A

Bone through the skin

23
Q

Closed fracture

A

Not through skin

24
Displaced
When the alignment of the bone is changed
25
Non displaced
The alignment of the bone is intact
26
Comminuted fracture
Broken into many little pieces
27
Impacted fracture
Bone broken, stuck back together by force
28
Greenstick fracture
When There is a bend in the bone; pediatrics
29
Describe the fracture healing
Fracture healing begins with a hematoma formation (immediately) then fibrocatilaginous callus forms, then there's the bony callus formation and finally the bone is remodeled.
