Bacon’s Rebellion
- 1767
- colonial government
- Governor of Virginia was trading with the Native Americans for his own good
- Backcountry framer doing poor, wealthy did good
- wealthy=best land, poor=Indian land
- poor needed protection form Indians

Whiskey Rebellion
- George Washington (government)
- Taxes on American made whiskey to pay Federal debt, Western Farmers were unprotected from Indian attacks
- People believed they should keep money earned. Washington felt Constitution gave congress right to make/collect taxes
- Farmers felt targeted
- Farmers protested
Alien Act
President could throw out any foreigner/immigrant if feels that person is dangerous to country. 14 years of waiting to become citizen
Sedition Act
Citizens can be fined or jailed for speaking out of the Constitution
Virginia+Kentucky Resolutions
Direct response of Alien+Sedition Act. State had right to overturn a federal law if the state felt the law violated the Constitutional rights, but only within their boundaries
Neutrality Proclamation
The US was neutral with all countries
Marbury Vs Madison
Madison didn’t deliver Marbury’s commission. John Marshall agrees with Marbury, but can’t make Madison give the commission, Judiciary Act of 1789 was unconstitutional. Have Supreme Court right if Judiciary review.
Louisiana Purchase
Jefferson purchased Louisiana and all land above it.
Pickney’s Treaty
An agreement between the US and Spain that changed Florida’s border and make it easier to use the port of New Orleans
