provide training in proper respirator usage and care, and be included in the command’s respiratory protection program.
Always change the respirator filter cartridge after every 8 hours of use or sooner if pesticide odor is detected, mark cartridge for each hour of use.
Restrict unprotected personnel from entering areas where pesticide operations are being conducted, and for at least 30 minutes after spraying.
Dermal exposure is the most frequent route of pesticide poisoning.
High temperatures, dermatitis, or damage to the skin can increase the dermal absorption rate of a pesticide 4 to 10 times.
Occlusive clothing like sweat bands, coveralls, leather boots also increase absorption rate of pesticides 4 to 10 time. pg 5-4
If pesticides get in the eyes, flush eyes w/ a gentle stream of clean water for a least 15 minutes.
Hand Protection: Wear only unlined neoprene or nitrile, chemical-resistant gloves while handing pesticides.
