CH 5: Epithelial Tissue Flashcards
A group or mass of similar cells working together to perform common functions
Tissue
Covers all body surfaces both inside and out. Cells reproduce rapidly, results in rapid healing. Cells tightly packed together.
Epithelial Tissue
How many days days for the outer layer of skin to shed and be replaced?
27 days, 1.5lb a year
Single layer epithelial tissue
Simple
Multiple layers epithelial tissue
Stratified
Flat epithelial tissue, either simple or stratified
Squamous
Square epithelial tissue, either simple or stratified
Cuboidal
Column (rectangle) epithelial tissue, either simple or stratified
Columnar
