How does the teaching in the Book of Ecclesiastes reinforce the importance of focusing upon one’s strengths?
In the text the writer laments that all is “meaningless”, and communicates a sense of pointlessness and hopelessness to life. While in the sense of desperation, the writer gains the wisdom of knowing that peace is found when one is able to accept the “gift from God” to enjoy the toil of their day, and a good meal at its end. This reinforces focusing on strengths from the standpoint that when we focus upon using our gifts to meet the needs of the day we find the purpose and significance of our lives. It’s when we wish our day, our lives, our tasks, etc. were different that we find a sense of hopelessness and meaninglessness.
