What is thermoset laminate?
A laminate made by pressing a decorative polyester or melamine resin impregnated saturated sheet onto a wood fibre backing.
Great for low use areas, bad for countertops

Solid Surface is a homogeneous, polymer based material that can be used as countertops sinks partitions, bars, etc.
