Protection orders contain a standard prohibition preventing possession and use of any weapons including firearms. Therefore can constabulary police employee who have been issues with a PO carry their appointments and or firearms?
No.
An application to vary a protection order conditions can we requested. Police will investigate the nature, duration and type of family harm disclosed, history and employees roles, views of protected person.
Final decision under S22 will be made by the DCE People in consultation with the National Manager, Criminal Investigation group.
What is the age an applicant including parents can take out a protection order against a child or young person?
16 years old or over.
This order is taken out under OT Act 1989
Can Protection orders issued by foreign courts be registered in NZ

Who can issues Protections Orders
Family Court and District Court.
How long can a District Court detain a person for the purpose of issuing and serving a protection order?
Not exceeding 2 hours.
When requested to surrender any weapons and any firearms licence held by them or in their possession, how long do they have to surrender these?
On demand made at any time by a constable or
asap after PO is served and within 24 hours of service.
When a firearms licences has been suspended due to the making of a protection order when is it deemed revoked?
When Protection Order becomes final.
When you come across a person who has a non-molestation or non-violence order they are treated as a PO, if you come across someone with these orders and they have a firearm licence who must you notify?
Inspector or above to consider revocation of the licences.
What age can a PSO be issued to children?
16 or 17
