CH 4 conjectures Flashcards
What is a base angle?
the other two angles at the base of the triangle.
what is a base?
the non-congruent side adjacent to the base angles
what are the legs in a triangle?
the two congruent sides of a triangle
what does the isosceles triangle conjecture state?
If a triangle is isosceles, then its base angles are congruent.
What is the converse of the isosceles triangle conjecture?
If a triangle has two congruent angles, then it is an isosceles triangle
What is the equilateral/equiangular triangle conjecture?
Every equilateral triangle is equiangular, and conversely, every equiangular triangle is equilateral
What is the triangle inequality conjecture?
The sum of the lengths of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the length of the third side
What is the Side Angle Inequality conjecture?
In a triangle, if one side is longer than another side, then the angle opposite the longer side is larger than the angle opposite the shorter side.
What is the Triangle Exterior Angle Conjecture?
The measure of an exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the measures of the remote interior angles.
What are corresponding parts in a triangle?
Parts of triangles that match up with each other.
What does the SSS congruence conjecture state?
If the three sides of one triangle are congruent to the other three sides of another triangle then the triangles are congruent.
What does the SAS Congruence conjecture state?
If two sides and the included angle of one triangle are congruent to two sides and the included angle of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
What does the ASA congruence conjecture staet?
If two angles and the included side of one triangle are congruent to two angles and the included side of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
What does the SAA Congruence conjecture state?
If two angles and a non-included side of one triangle are congruent to the corresponding two angles and non-included side of another triangle, the triangles are congruent.
What is the SAS (SSA) NON-Congruence conjecture?
If two sides and a non-included angle of one triangle are congruent to the corresponding two sides and a non-included angle of another triangle, the two triangles are not congruent.
