What is macrosomia?
excessive fetal size
What is CPD?
fetal size is excessive in relation to the maternal pelvis
What is incompetent cervix?
the passive and painless dilation of the cervix during usually the 2nd trimester
What is placenta previa?
the implantation of placenta in lower uterine segment, completely or partially covering the cervix
What is placenta abruption?
the pathological detachment of placenta during or before onset of labor
What is chorioamnionitis?
bacterial infection of the amniotic cavity
What is preterm labor?
regular uterine ctxs with cervical dilation occuring btwn 20 and 37 weeks
What is precipitous labor?
labor lasting < 3 hrs
What placental hormone is used in the dx of pregnancy and pregnancy loss?
HCG
What is a hyatidiform mole?
a gestational trophoblastic disease, benign proliferatrive growth of trophoblast
What is the BISHOP score?
rating system used to evaluate the inducibility of the cervix
What is an ectopic pregnancy?
implantation of a fertilized ovum outside the uterus
What is placenta accreta?
abnormal attachment of the placenta to the uterus, inhibiting placental separation, may result in HEMORRHAGE
What is PPROM?
spontaneous rupture of membranes before 37 weeks of gestation
What is DIC?
pathological form of diffuse clotting
