While presiding over the All India Muslim session in 1940 , Quaid identified the direction for the struggle of the muslims.

1. The muslims are a seperate nation because their customs , traditions , civilization , language , culture and above all religion are different from the Hindus.Inspite living together for centuries , they both have distinct identification. If the subcontinent got freedom as a single nation , the rights if the muslims wont be protected.
2. The demand of the muslims for a seperate state is not unhistorical. Ireland got freedom from England. Spain and Portugal became seperate countries. Czechoslovakia got freedom as a result of partition.The problem in India is not of an inter-communal character but of an international one and it must be treated as such.
3. British India is a sub-continent. It is not a country or the honeland of a nation.Many nations are living here and their interest differ from one another.

What was Quaid’s reply in the Jinnah Gandhi Talks?

The Jinnah Gandhi talks of 1944 started from the point of the Two-Nation-Theory and Pakistan Resolution.During the talks Gandhi refused to accept the Two Nation Theory.

Gandhi’s Proposal:
After having dialogue with Quaid-e-Azam , Gandhi said that although he didnt support the Two Nation Theory , yet if the Muslims wanted to put the Lahore Resolution into practical form , this issue should be delayed. First they should get freedom from the British collectively. Then the Muslim League can solve the issue of Pakistan with the Congress.

Quaid’s reply : Quaid-e-Azam adjudged that the style adopted by Gandhi is nothing but cheating , hypocrisy and cunningness.He emphasized that the British must partition India before leaving because the Congress and Gandhi cant be trusted.

The resolution declared : “No constitutional plan would be workable or acceptable to the Muslims unless geographical contigious units are demarcated into regions which should be constitued with such territorial adjustments as may be necessary.That the areas in which the Muslims are numerically in a majority as in the North-Western and Eastern zones of India should be grouped together to constitute states in which the constituent units shall be autonomous and sovereign. It further reads that “ That adequate , effective and mandatory safeguards shall be specifically provided for the minorities in the units and in the regions for the protection of their religions , cultural , economic , political and administrative and other rights of the minorites , with their consultation. Arrangements thus shall be made for the security of Muslims where they are in a minority.” “
