What is the history of Brazil in population terms?
In the 16th century Portuguese colonists arrived and settled along the coastal zones of Brazil. They chose the coastal zones because the climate suited them. In the 19th and 20th century, European migrants came from Germany, Italy and Switzerland. They settled in the cooler regions of the south-eastern coast of Brazil. This is why there is high population density in this region.
