Preconception care

Gravida

The number of times a woman has given birth to a fetus of at least 20 gestational weeks, viable or not, counting multiple births as one birth event

Alpha fetoprotein AFP
A Glycoprotein produced initially by the yolk sack and fetal liver. I level increases until approximately 14 to 15 weeks and then falls progressively. 
Amniocentesis
A transabdominal puncture of the amniotic sac to obtain a sample of amniotic fluid for analysis
Chronic villus sampling CVS
An invasive procedure involving an 18 gauge needle stick through the abdomen or passage of a suction catheter through the cervix under ultrasound guidance to obtain a sample of the chronic Villi from the placenta
Biophysical profile BPP
Real-time ultrasound and nonstress test to allow assessment of various parameters of fetal well-being that are sensitive to hypoxia
High risk pregnancy
Pregnancy that involves increased health risk for the pregnant person unborn baby or both. Certain health conditions and age can make a pregnancy high-risk
Linea nigra
A linear hyperpigmentation that commonly appears on the abdomen
Natural childbirth
Giving birth using no medication’s at all instead using techniques such as relaxation and controlled breathing for pain
Perinatal education
Health education service focused on the family unit during the childbirth. And is supportive to all family members
