Not feeling confident or competent, making mistakes because of workload/responsibilities, encountering new situations, inconsistent preceptors, getting to know staff, encounters with unhappy nurses, short staffed, nurses unwilling to help.
Reality Shock
reaction experienced when one moves into workforce after several years of educational prep.
Phases of Reality Shock
Honeymoon phase, shock and rejection phase (Mistrust, decreased energy, fatigue, bad attitude), Recovery Phase (Sense of humor, decreased tension)
