The point of this class is to help form frameworks for decision making
What is the role of the journalist?
The role of the journalist is to be a watchdog of the government
What is civil liberty?
It is freedom to do something w/out gov’t restraint
What are the branches of the separation of powers that are voted in?
These are the executive and the legislative
What is democracy?
It is the rule of the people , when people vote in an official
What is sovereign ?
It is legitimate recognized authority
Who is sovereign in this country ?
The people and the gov’t are sovereign they both have the right to exercise authority
What is the Supremacy clause?
It is that the constitution is the supreme law of the land above all others
What is prior restraint ?
Prior restraint is when the gov’t tries to stop / regulate speech before it occurs prior restraints are unlawful under the 1st amendment
What is judicial review ?
Courts interpret law such as 1st amendment and make rulings upholding. The constitution

A similar case that has happened before with similar facts that may be used to help decide a current case

Sticking. With the same choices but if the facts change then it is adjusted

It’s is the first 10 amendments to the constitution

We are living in the realm of civil liberty
