Three key elements of Work
Goal directed, Coordinated activities, in exchange for someting else
Organizational psychology
About the context in which the activities that are conducted by workers are conducted
Personnel psychology
About the characteristics of the person conducting a particular work task
Work psychology
About the tasks that are carried out at work. So specific activities that are conducted to achieve a particular goal.
Deprivation model
Part from providing income, having employment also provides social benefits.
Scientific management
Taylorism: Workers are lazy and stupid. Maximize industrial efficiency. ‘Simple tasks’.
Task analysis
What an employee is supposed to do to achieve a system goal
Behaviour description approach
Focus on actual behaviours employees display while excecuting the task
Behaviour requirements approach
Focus is on actual behaviour employees should display to perform a task
Ability requirements approach
Tasks are analysed in terms of employees abilties etc.
Task characteristics approach
Focus is on analysing the objective characteristics of a task
