ch 1 Algebraic methods Flashcards
What to do when algebraic fractions are being multiplied by one then divided by another one?
Factorise them all and try and cancel as much as possible from each of them.
How to split fractions into partial fractions?
Do one as A/ denominator and the other B/denominator
How to deal with repeated roots in partial factor?
For the denominator of the repeated factor turn this into a linear factor and add it as it could be hidden within.
How do you know how to split up improper fractions?
Depending of the degree of difference that there is between the numerator and the denominator.
If there is no degree difference
If there is a one degree difference it is Ax + B
if there is a two degree difference it is Ax^2 + Bx + C
What to do when there are no more values of X that cause a cancel out?
-plug in x=0
