What are the 3 types of haemorrhage?

A
  • Primary: During/immediately after extraction. Due to infection or trauma to blood vessels.
  • Reactionary (within 48 hours): After the vasoconstrictor effect of local anaesthesia wears off (3 hrspost op). Usually due to underlying systemic conditions such as bleeding or clotting disorders.
  • Secondary (around 7 days post-op): Rare and mainly due to secondary infection.
