Endocervix (inside) consists of simple columnar and ectocervix (outer part) consists of squamous and the transformation zone is where the proliferation occurs

Age 21 to 29 q 3 years
What is the cervical CA screening guidelines for age 30-65?
Pap smear with HPV co-testing every 5 years or pap alone every 3 years
What is the cervical CA screening guidelines for age >65
No screening necessary after adequate negative prior screenings in the past 10 years (due to the slow growing nature of dysplasia)
Who should get annual HIV screening?
-HIV or immunocompromised patients or women previously treated for cervical cancer

What is the sequence of pap screening order?
Ok so you have an abnormal pap
- HPV DNA testing is standard
- Biopsy of suspicious lesion is mandatory
- Colposcopy (directly examine cervix) with biopsies is most appropriate histologic technique
