When would an aircraft not be airworthy?
Fail to pass an inspection or anything that would not let the aircraft fly normally (affects the structural integrity)
Any required items for the airplane that are not present
What documents do you need as a person to fly?
Pilot certificate, medical, government ID (logbook in certain circumstances)
Do you need your logbook with you?
As a student pilot conducting a solo flight requires logbook endorsements
What are the limitations of a STUDENT PILOT?
No passengers, no hire, no business, cannot fly with surface visibility less than 3sm (day) and 5sm (night)
What are the privileges of a PRIVATE PILOT
Act as PIC, carry passengers (5 max), fly for charity/non profit(500hr), fly as a aircraft salesman(200hr), tow a glider (100hr)
What are the limitations for a PRIVATE PILOT?
Cannot fly for compensation or hire, cannot pay less than pro rata share
What inspections does the plane need? (AAVIATES)
AD’s, Annual (12m), 100 hr, VOR (every 30 days if for hire), Alimeter (24m), Transponder (24m), ELT (12m or half life or 1hr of consecutive use), Static system (24m)
How long are medical valid for (under 40 and over 40)?
Under 40: 5yrs or 60 mths Over 40: 2yrs or 24 mths
How long is state registration valid for?
12 months (1 year)
How long is federal registration valid for?
7 years
What are the limits for Basic med?
Altitude no higher than 18,000ft
Can fly faster than 250kts
Can’t fly outside of U.S
What is basic med? What is needed to attain one?
A alternate substitute for a medical
Must have had a class medical prior
Can go to a regular doctor to be given one
Allows you to fly with just your drivers license
Can have one as a PP
When are you supposed to log hours in your logbook?
Flight reviews (24 months)
Takeoffs/landings to carry passengers
Any training going towards a rating
