Cerebral Vasculature Flashcards
The spinal cord is supplied by:
the anterior spinal artery and two posterior spinal arteries. All anastomose with each other and small segmental arteries contribute.
What is the significance of the artery of Adamkiewicz?
large artery that contributes to the arterial system of the spinal cord at the thoracic level. If this is cut off, the anterior spinal cord will have insufficient blood flow and the spinal cord will die in that region.
where are the lenticulostriate arteries and where are they located?
small perforating branches off of the proximal middle cerebral arteries. Damaged by age, diabetes, etc, and are a cause of strokes.
the straight sinus is formed by the convergence of the:
inferior sagittal sinus and great cerebral vein
the basal and vertebral arteries supply more ____ parts to he brainstorm, while their branches supply the ____ portions.
