Cerebral Tracts - Shorer Flashcards
1
Q
What are the three cerebral tracts in the brain?
A
- Association:
connect 2 areas in the same hemisphere
Short association fibers: from 1 gyrus to a close one
Long association: stay on one side, but can go farther, like between lobes
Uncinate fascifulus, superior and inferior longitudinal tracts, cingulum, arcuate fibers - Commisural:
Connect points between 2 hemispheres
Corpus callosum is the major one (fibers go perpendicular to it)
Forcepts minor: frontal-frontal
Forcepts major: occipital-occipital
Anterior and posterior commissures separate from the corpus collosum. Include interbulbar fibers and intertemporal fibers) - Projection
Vertical connections
Corticospinal, corticobulbar (brain stem), corticorubrol (frontal lobe to red nucleus) , corticonuclear.
