A group of permanent disorders of movement and posture causing activity limitation that are attributed to non-progressive distrubances in the developing fetal or infant brain
Cerebral palsy
The major lesions that contribute to CP in premature infants
Periventrocular Leukomalacia and Intracerebral Hemorrhage
It is a type of CP where in there’s decreased spontaneous movement on the affected side and shows hand preference at an early age
Spastic Hemiplegia
There is bilateral spasticity more on the legs and tends to drag the legs when the infant starts crawling
Spastic Diplegia
Associated with damage to the white matter at 20 to 34 wks age of gestation
Spastic Diplegia
This is the most severe form of CP and is associated with mental retardation. Seizures and autosm spectrum disorder
Spastic Quadriplegia
Characteristically there is hypotonia evidenced by poor head control and head lag and develops rigidity and dystonia
Athetoid CP
It is related to birth asphyxia or kernicterus
Athetoid CP
