Cerebal Circulation Flashcards
1
Q
Where to vertebral aa come from
A
- brachiocephalic- R SCA- R vertebral
- L SCA- L vertebral
These enter brain via vertebral foreman
2
Q
Where does ant and post circulation come from
A
- ant is carotid
- post is vertebral
These meet up creating circle of Willis
3
Q
CCA- ECA- ICA to ant
A
- ICA through carotid canal of temporal bone of skull and into cranial cavity
- ICA give off middle cerebral aa (temporal and parietal lobes), anterior cerebral aa (frontal, sup med parietal lobes)
- ant cerebral communicate via ant communicating aa
4
Q
Post vertebral
A
- via transverse foramia of cervical vertebra
- via foreman magnum
- post inf cerebellar aa (PICA) (medulla and part of cerebellum)
- vertebral unite into basilar aa which gives off anterior inf cerebella aa (AICA) (lat pons and part of cerebellum) and small pontine aa to supply mid pons and post cerebral aa
- post cerebral aa give of communicating aa which merge w ICA closing circle
5
Q
Where is dural sinuses
A
In between endosteal and meningeal layer
Drains blood from brain
6
Q
How does brain drain blood
A
- superior Sagittal (along longitudinal fissue)
- straight sinus
- occipital sinus
Drain to confluence of sinuses which empty into transverse sinuses to sigmoid sinuses which then go to jugular vv then heart
7
Q
Post cerebral circulation
A
- post inf cerebellar aa
- basilar aa
- post cerebral
8
Q
In post cerebral l and r vertebral aa join to form
A
Basilar aa
9
Q
Basilar supply
A
- midbrain
- cerebellum
- branches into post cerebral aa
10
Q
3 aa supplying cerebellum
A
-post inf cerebellar aa
- ant inf cerebellar aa
- sup cerebellar aa
11
Q
Basilar gives off branches of the
A
- ant inf cerebellar aa
- pontine aa
- sup cerebellar aa
12
Q
Ant
A
- ophthalmic aa
- middle cerebral
- ant cerebral
