Central Venous Pressure - Nord Flashcards

1
Q

The venous flow constitutes the connection in flow from the peripheral venous compartment to the central venous compartment.
What happens to venous return when the pressure in the central venous system drops below the pressure in the peripheral venous system?

A

There is an increase in venous return.
Remember
Q = deltaP / R

(delta P is the difference in Pressure between the compartments)

Q

What are two ways to increase peripheral venous pressure?

A

Increase blood volume –> Increase pressure

Increase vasoconstriction
(through sympathetic activity)
