Central Nervouse System Flashcards
Central Nervouse System
The Central nervouse system is comprised of the brain and spinal cord. It is responsible for transmitting neural messages to, and receiving neural messages from the peripheral nervouse system
Brain
The brain is the control centre for the body, allowing the body to respond to information from within and outside the body. Responsible for initiating and processing actions, thoughts and behaviour.
Spinal Cord
A long cable of nerve tissue (neurons) connecting the brain to the peripheral nervouse system, responsible for sending motor information from the brain to the skeletal muscles and sensory information from the body to the brain.
