Cellular Respiration Flashcards
What is final product in cellular respiration
Water, co2 and ATP
ATP
It is the main storage and carrier of energy in our cells
Carboxylation
The addition of CO2 to a molecule
Decarboxylation
Removing a C02 from a molecule
Substrate level phosphorlaytion
Phosphate group getting added to ADP to make ATP
What is chemiosmosi
A proton gradient in the mitochondria that pumps H+ creating ATP
Aerobic respiration
Cellular respiration with sufficient oxygen which allows us to go throught the process easily
Anaerobic respiration
This is when not enough oxygen is Present which makes us do fermentation to try and make as much atp as possible with what we have
ATP made in fermentation

ATP made in cellular respiration

Stages of Cellular respiration
Glycolysis
Krebs
ETC
What happens in glycolysis
Happens in the cytoplasm. Net gain of 2 ATP
Krebs cycle location
Occurs in mitochondrial matrix.
What is used and made in Krebs cycle
Pyruvate-> FADH and NADH and one ATP
Where does ETC happen
Withen the mitochondria
