- Contain large number of mitochondria as lots of energy is needed in these cells
- Go from being shorter and fatter (contracted) to longer and skinnier to move body

Voluntary Muscles
• Deliberate use and movement
Involuntary Muscles
• You don’t even have to think about these
Cardiac Muscles
• Muscles in your heart

Nerve Cells
A
- Make up your brain
- Some carry messages from brain to parts of your body
- Some carry messages from parts of your body to your brain

Blood Cells: Red Blood Cells

• Carry oxygen round your body (and carry some carbon dioxide out)

• Infection fighters (your immune system)

• Brown fat cells - produce heat
• White fat cells - store energy

- Tissues are groups of the same type of cell which perform a specific function
- Epithelium: skin
• Connective tissue: tissue that connects things
• Muscle tissue: groups of muscle cells
• Nerve tissue: groups of nerve cells

• Organs are made up of different types of tissue which work together
• Have a special job

- A system is a group of organs which work together to fulfil a major role in the body
• Digestive system
• Circulatory system - Respiratory system
- Excretory system
