Cells And Simple Cell Transport Flashcards
What does the cytoplasm do?
Most chemical processes take place here and are controlled by enzymes
What does the nucleus do?
Contains genetic material, which control the activities of the cell
What does the cell membrane do?
Controls the movement of substances in and out the cell
How is energy released in the mitochondria ?
Respiration
What happens in the ribosomes?
Protein synthesis
what does the cell wall do?
Strengthens the cell
What does the chloroplast do for photosynthesis?
Absorbs light energy
What does the vacuole do?
Keep the cell turgid
Name one part of a plant cell which is not in animals cell:
Cell wall
Name a part which is missing from human red blood cells?
Nucleus
What is diffusion?
The movement of particles from a high concentration to low concentration
How come you speed of diffusion in our cell. name 2 ways:
- Make the cell rounder
2. Move the blood supply closer
Which substance moves out of a respiring cell?
Carbon dioxide
How are bacterial cells different from animal cells?
Bacterial cells have a cell wall and no nucleus,an animal cell has a nucleus but no cell wall
How are yeast cells different from bacterial cells?
They have no nucleus
