Cells and Organisation Flashcards
How many structures does an animal cell have?
It has three structures
What are the three structures in an animal cell?
Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Cell Membrane
What is the purpose of the Nucleus?
Controls what the cell does
What is the purpose of the Cytoplasm?
The cytoplasm holds the components of the cell and protects them from damage
What is the purpose of the Cell Membrane?
It holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out
What type of cell is this? Clue: Cytoplasm, Nucleus, Cell Membrane
It is an Animal Cell
What type of cell is this? Clue: Cell Wall, Vacuole, Chloroplasts
It is a Plant Cell
How many structures does Plant Cell have?
A Plant Cell has 7 structures
What are the 7 structures in a Plant Cell?
Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Cell Membrane, Mitochondria, Cell Wall, Vacuole, Chloroplasts
What is the purpose of the Mitochondria?
The main function of mitochondria is to produce energy for the cell.
What is the purpose of the Cell Wall in an Animal Cell?
It is there to support the Animal Cell
What is the Vacuole?
A bit of the cell that is filled with Cell sap and a weak solution of sugar and salts
What is a Chloroplast?
(photosynthesis) They specialize in converting sunlight into energy that plants can use
A group of similar cells come together to make what?
They make a tissue
A group of different tissues work together to make what?
They make an organ
