Q

What happens in interphase

A

The cells chromosomes are replicated so there are two sets in the cells chromosomes.

Q

What’s mitosis

A

When the two sets of chromosomes are pulled to opposite ends of the cell. The nucleus then divides into two.

Q

What is a malignant tumor?

A

A harmful tumor that can invade neighboring tissues and spread throughout the body and into the blood, leading to the creation of more, secondary, tumors.

Q

What’s the zone of cell division

A

The zone is near the tip of a root and then cells divide by mitosis so new cells are created

Q

What is the zone of elongation

A

further yup the root and next to the zone of division, the new cells grow in size here

Q

What’s the zone of differentiation

A

even further up the root, next to the zone of elongation. this is where the new cells differentiate.

16
Q

Explain cell differentiation

A

the process where a cell develops sub-cellular structures to let it perform a specific function. then this happens, the cell becomes specialized.

17
Q

When does cell differentiation happen?

A

During an organisms development

18
Q

What do organisms start as

A

One cell

19
Q

How are embryos made?

A

when cells divide to form embryos that differentiate to produce cells that can perform all of the body’s functions.

20
Q

Why are plants always able to create more tissue?

A

because they keep their ability to differentiate throughout their life.

21
Q

How does cell differentiation work in adult animals?

A

it happens rarely and because their cells divide in order to replace cells and repair tissues. new tissues are rarely created.

22
Q

In human adults, where can stem cells be found?

A

in bone marrow

23
Q

what are stem cells used to replace?

A

cells and damaged tissue

24
Q

where are plant stem cells found

A

meristem tissue
