cells and control Flashcards
Stages mitosis
Interphase, chromosomes cell duplicate
Prophase nucleus starts to break down spindle fibers appear
Metaphase- chromosomes are linked up on the spindle fibers across the middle of the call
Anaphase chromosomes copies are sperated and moved to either end of the call on the spindle fibers
telophase a membrane forms around each set of chromosomes to form nuclei
Which process is used for the growth and repair of tissues and asexual reproduction?
Mitosis
Name the process whereby water diffuses across a partially permeable membrane from a dilute solution to a concentrated solution:
osmosis
synapses
when a electrical impulse hits the end of a nerve causes a release of chemical which travels impulse to another synpase
neurones
carry electrical impulses
long , thing
mylein sheath that insulates the impulses to travel faster
CNS
Brain and spinal cord
what do sensory neurones carry
eletrical impulses to our central nervous systems
What do Central nervous system do when they’ve decided what to do
Send impulses back to the body by motor nerones to the effectors
Reflex arc(srm)
When you touch a sharp object it is detected by receptor cells which stimulate sensory neurone to carry a impulse to your spinal cord. The spinal cord tranfers the impulse to the relay neurone and then passes to the motor neurone which travels back to the body to the effector which will cause your body to contract and move away.
What does meiosis form
Gametes
Root hair cell
Absorbs minerals and water from soil. Large surface area. Thin cell wall. Not many cell wall
Meristem cell
Undifferentiated cell ins plants . Found in zones where plant growth takes place
palisade cell
Carry out photosyntheis. Found in the top of the leaf. Large surface area and has lots of chlorolplast
xylem cell
involved in the movement of water. made up of dead cells they have hollow middle and a strong cell wall
What is mitosis used for
growth and repair
