Cells and Body tissues Flashcards
Ribosomes
Makes proteins
Cells
basic building blocks to tissue and organs
muscle tissue
A body tissue that contracts or shortens, making body parts move.
active transport
have to use up ATP or energy to make it happen
passive transport
don’t use any energy to make things happen
Diffusion
Movement of molecules from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.
Avascular
without blood vessels
Systemic anatomy
Systemic anatomy
Surface anatomy
Looking where things are to what we see.
anatomy
structure
physiology
function
Organ System
normally more then one organ. A bunch of organs that work together
Carbohydrates
Energy that sits on the surface of the cell to tell other cells what they are.
Protein
muscles, hormones and enzymes
Lipid/ Fats
Energy storage
Nucleic Acid
found in the cell building block for DNA and RNA
What is inside a cell?
Tissue - bunch of cells that get together and have a common purpose
Organs - Tissues together
Organ System - puts it all together
4 types of Primary tissues
- Epitheal
- Connective
- Muscle
- Neural
epithelial tissue
A body tissue that covers the surfaces of the body, inside and out
connective tissue
A body tissue that provides support for the body and connects all of its parts
connects tissue to other tissue
neural tissue
carries electrical signals from one part of the body to another
Skin cells
Flat and form layers for protection
Nerve Cells
have long axons for nerve transportation
Muscle Cells
made up of movable protein for activities.
