Movement Respiration Sense Nutrition Excrete Respirate Grow
Cell/plasma membrane
Thin, flexible, living selectively permeable.
Cytoplasm
Transparent, jelly like substance. Contains water.
Nucleus
Controls all structure and activities of the cell. Carries heredity characteristics.
Mitochondria
Small, rod shaped. Provide energy for the functioning of a cell. Carry out cellular respiration by breaking down glucose with oxygen. This energy is used for chemical reactions and processes in the cell.
Cell Wall
Composed of fibers of cellulose. (Small spaces between) completely permeable. Non living, rigid strong. Provides the cell with support and strength and protection.
Why do animal cells have irregular shapes
They don’t have rigid walls.
Chloroplasts
Small green plant cells that contain chlorophyll and carry out the process of photosynthesis.
What is photosynthesis
A process in plants when chlorophyll changes radiant energy from sunlight into chemical energy which is stored as glucose.
Vacuole
Filled with water containing dissolved substances e.g salts minerals, sugars called cell sap.
What can’t be seen with microscope
Mitochondria and vacuoles
Protoplasm
Cytoplasm and nucleus
