Cells Flashcards
What organelles do plant and animal cells have in common?
Nucleus, Cell membrane , mitochondria, Cytoplasm
What organelles are specific to plant cells?
Large vacuole, chloroplast, cell wall
What organelle is specific to an animal cell?
Vacuole
What does a cell wall do?
Gives plant cells shape and strength
What’s cytoplasm and what does it do?
It’s the jelly shit in a cell. It suspends all the organelles and allows substances to move within the cell, it’s also the site of chemical reactions
What’s a vacuole and what’s its deal?
It’s a small liquid filled compartment surrounded by membrane, it stores substances from the cell.
What’s the Nucleus about?
It controls all of the cell processes and functions
What’s the mitochondria do
The mitochondria is the site of cellular respiration for the cell (the release of energy from glucose)
What’s the cell membrane for
It controls what enters and leaves the cell. It’s like the cell bouncer
What’s the chloroplast do?
It’s the site of photosynthesis for a plant cell
What’s the large vacuole do
Gives structural support to the plant cell, stores cell sap and gives certain colours
