Cells Flashcards
What is the function of the Cell Membrane?
Keeps the cell together and selectively allows chemicals in/out of the cell.
What is the function of the Cell Wall?
Helps to support the cell.
What is the function of the Chloroplast?
Where the plant makes it’s own food.
What is the function of the Cytoplasm?
Contains chemicals needed by the cell.
What is the function of the Nucleus?
The control centre of the cell.
What is the function of the Vacuole?
Stores waste and helps to support the plant.
What is number one?

The Eyepiece Lens.
What is number 2?

Tube
What is number 3?

Coarse adjustment
What is number 4?

Fine adjustment
What is number 5?

Objective lens.
What is number 6?

Stage.
What is number 7?

Light Source.
What is the objective of the eyepiece lens?
Directs light into the eye.
What is the objective of the tube?
Channels the transmitted light to the eyepiece.
What is the objective of the coarse adjustment?
Quickly focuses at lower magnification.
What is the objective of the fine adjustment?
For careful focusing at high magnification.
What is the objective of the objective lens?
Magnifies the image of the sample.
What is the objective of the stage?
Holds the sample in place.
What is the objective of the light source?
Illuminates the sample.
