Cells Flashcards
To Identify Different Cells And What They Do
What is a Cell Membrane?
A Cell Membrane surrounds the cell and controls which substances enter and leave the cell.
What is a Nucleus?
A Nucleus determines the characteristic of the cell as it contains DNA, the genetic information that cells need to grow and reproduce.
What is a Cytoplasm?
A Cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance, it is the site of chemical reactions.
What is a Mitochondria?
The Mitochondria carries out reactions of respiration for the release of energy.
What does an animal and plant cell both contain?
An animal cell contains the Cell Membrane, Nucleus, Cytoplasm and the Mitochondria.
What is a Cell Wall?
The Cell Wall is a layer of cellulose that surrounds the cell to strengthen and give surport.
What is a Permanent Vacuole?
A Permanent Vacuole is a space within the Cytoplasm of plant cells that contains cell sap, a store of water and chemicals.
What are Chloroplasts?
Chloroplasts contain chlorophyll for absorbing sunlight for photosynthesis.
What does Plant Cell consist of?
They consist of a Cell Wall, Permanent Vacuole and Chloroplasts (plus a few extra).
