Cells Flashcards
Nucleus
DNA storage and controls all the activity of the cell
Cell membrane
Separates the inside and controls what goes in and comes out
Cytoplasm
Watery jelly containing organelles also where many of the cell chemical reactions take place
Plant cell wall
Plant cells have a cell wall which is outside the cell and provides structure for the cell it is made of cellulose
Chloroplasts
Absorbs light to make sugar in a process called the photosynthesis they are green discs that contain chlorophyll they make food for the plant (using photosynthesis)
Vacuole
Stores water and sap
Plant cells features
Cell wall
Chloroplasts
Vacuole
Animal cell features
Irregular shape
Both features of animal and plant cell
Mitochondria
Nucleus
Membrane
Cytoplasm
Other types of cells
Palisade cell
Root hair cell-found on roots help absorb water from soil
Nerve cell-Carrie’s messages around the body
Mitochondria
Generates energy needs to power the cell-cellular respiration
Level of organisms
Cell-smallest building block of living things
Tissue-group of cells that all do the same job
Organ-group of tissues carting our specific job
Organ system set of organs doing one of the main jobs of the body
Organism the whole living thin
Photosynthesis paragraph
Leaves take in CO2 from air and H2O from soil and energy from sunlight. Plants use chlorophyll found in little green cell structures called chloroplasts the chloroplasts use light energy to change CO2 and H2O into food (sugar/glucose) and 02 has the sugar is turned to start h to be stored by the plant
