16
Q

What are the functions of the cytoskeleton structures?

A
  1. Microtubules = Trackway for transport of materials to and from the center of the cell (micro-train)
  2. Intermediate Filaments = prevent a cell from being torn apart by tension (pulling) forces (Medium pain from guy tied to two horses RIP)
  3. Microfilaments = mainly consists of actin, which interacts with myosin to produce changes in cell shape
17
Q

Nucleus

A

The control center of the cell

18
Q

Is the nucleus an organelle?

A

No

19
Q

What are the three Specialized cell contacts (cell junctions)?

A
  1. Tight Junctions
  2. Desmosomes
  3. Gap Junctions
20
Q

What are the functions of the cell junctions?

A
  1. Tight Junctions = Prevent diffusion across tissue through extracellular space (Keeps it together)
  2. Desmosomes = Anchors adjacent cells together (Bolts)
  3. Gap Junctions = Passageway from one cell to another (ZuZu pets)
