Cella of the adaptive immune system Flashcards
What are the cells of the adaptive immune system?
T cells (CD4+) B cells
What are the different tcells (CD4+)?
T helper I
T helper II
What is the function of Tcells (CD4+)?
recognize processed antigens on the cell surface of DCs in association with MHC Class II molecules.
produce
What is the function of T helper 1 cells?
secretes IL-2
IFN-gamma
What is the function of Thelper 2 cells?
aid B cells to produce antibodies
secretes IL-4,5,10
What are CD8+ T cells called?
cytotoxic T cells (CTL)
hat is the function of CTLs?
kill target cells directly by inducing apoptosis
How is apoptosis induced by CTLs?
release perforins at target cell
perforins create transmembrane pores in which granzymes enter
granzymes induce apoptosis
What is the function of b cells?
produce antibodies that belong to any class such as IgG, Ig E and Ig A. This is called class switching also can present to T cells
