Cell structure/ organisation Flashcards
what are cells
The basic unit of life that make up a living thing
What are the cytoplasm, Nucleus and cell membrane called all tgt
protoplasm
what are the parts of an animal cell?
-nucleus
-cytoplasm
-cell membrane
-ribosomes
-vacuole
-mitochondrion
what does the cell membrane do?
partially permeable
controls substances entering in & out of cell
what does the cytoplasm do?
-jelly-like substance
-Each organelle is specialised for a particular form
-Site where most cellular activitied take place
What does the nucleus do?
controls all cellular activites such as growth and repair
Mitochondrion
site where aerobic respiration takes place
provides energy for cell activites (groth & repair)
glucose is broken down in the presence of O2
Ribosomes
Synthesise protiens in the cell
What are vacuoles
store water and food substances (animal)
contains dissolved sugars, mineral salts & food substances
draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:D
